"Absolutely AWESOME!"
"I didn't know what to expect...what I got was excellence." "I believe Pieces of a Dream has captured the pure essence of communicating messages and emotions through dance. I was Moved..." This past weekend, Pieces of a Dream, Inc. made its third appearance at the Fringe Wilmington Festival with "Moved...by Words, by Silence, by Sound." Continuing in our tradition of presenting original, unique, and thought-provoking choreography, "Moved..." explored the expressive potential of using spoken word and prose in conjunction with music. The concert, which was held at the Grand Opera House baby grand theater, ran from Thursday, September 27 through Saturday, September 29, 2012. The concert was organized into four seperate suites: Moved by Paths, Moved by Perseverance, Moved by Pain, Moved by Power. Each suite explored a different element of humanity, including motherhood, grief, and memories. Some of the audience favorites were "Hands: For Mother's Day" performed by the full cast to text by Nikki Giovanni and "Moved by Power", which included sounds of nature, text spoken by the dancers, and "Smile Upon Me" by the rock group Passion Pit. One notable piece was "2 Pearls", performed by Ashlei G. Randolph to text by Gayle Danley. The poem, written to honor the life of Ms. Danley's late mother, when combined with Ms. Randolph's choreography moved many audience members to tears (No pun intended.). The bulk of the choreography was created by Executive & Artistic Director Ashley SK Davis, with help from dancers Ashlei Randolph, Natasha Palazzolo, Adiah Simpson, and Viveca Hutchinson on specific pieces. If you missed the concert, be sure to save the date for our annual concert! Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 6:30 PM at the wilmington Drama League (10 West Lea Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802). Thanks to everyone who completed our survey, and congratulations to the winners of the drawing for an autographed poster, Kristin W., Kim L, and Patricia W.

On Wednesday, August 22, Pieces of a Dream Dance Theatre, P*D2, and energetic members of the community converged at Rodney Square in downtown Wilmington for a FLASH MOB! We danced to Beyonce's "Move Your Body", and also performed a preview from our upcoming concert, "Moved...by Words, by Silence, by Sound". Tickets cost only $5, plus Festival admission, and can be purchased at www.FringeWilmingtonDE.com. Another big event for August was our third-annual Pre-Season Ballet Intensive. As always, the intensive was conducted by Ballet Master Benjamin Sterling Cannon, who delivered a great techique workout in preparation for the upcoming season. If you missed this six-session ballet class, you truly MISSED OUT! Hello, All! I hope that 2012 is off to a good start for you and your loved ones. Here at Pieces of a Dream, Inc. 2012 promises to be a very eventful and exciting year.
